Essential Items to Pack when Travelling

Essential Items to Pack When Travelling

Packing is not one of my favourite things to do,
but unfortunately it's necessary.
Unless of course, you're absolutely, filthy rich and you can buy everything at the destination;
however, it wouldn't be Eco-friendly.
Anyways, I'm digressing here...

I have an essential items list that I have
when I travel.
It's always the same, whether I am travelling to a cold or hot, humid or dry climate.
The most important thing that always
comes first is comfort.
You always need to ask yourself, what will make me comfortable on my flight?

Here is what I always take:

two wallets
one real and the other one is a dummy for pick pockets

any important documents

a travel pillow
mine is made out of soft terry cloth and it doubles as a mini-blanket

pashmina scarf
i have several to choose from, so I don't get bored with the colours,
i don't like using airline blankets so this serves as a substitute.
they're great. they keep you warm. they last a long time - the real ones anyways.

extra toothbrush/toothpaste
earplugs
a hairbrush/tissue packet/wet wipes
a bottle of water bought after I pass through customs
a magazine to read and a magazine where I can just look at beautiful photos
usually it's an Oprah Magazine or News Magazine and a fashion magazine like Instyle.

a little container of moisturizer for my face and hands
they always get dry

a journal
to write my thoughts and ideas

an ipod or mp3 player with movie capability

a novel
not too small and not too heavy

What are your essential items for travelling?

  2. I always seem to pack way too much than I need to. But, some of my absolute necessities are my ipod and a magazine!

  3. I have a certain pair of travel pants, tennis shoes, and purse. Always a pillow (I don't always trust the places I sleep!), copies of companions passports, and a travel pack of wet wipes in case I need an impromptu bath and there is none to be found!

  4. Great list! I never thought of the two wallet thing. Brilliant! I always bring a few pashminas too and depending on how long the flight my travel pillow. I never use the airline ones. And also for the plane magazines, ipod, water, moisturizer, lipgloss & gum. I need to have all of those within arms reach :)

  8. Thanks for the lovely comment on my blog :) We pack the same stuff -- I always have reading material with me to keep me entertained during the long waits & long flights. I also always bring food with me even if the airline serves free food...something to look forward to like a bar of chocolate or a favorite sweet :) Happy travels!
