Illustration Update and the Spa

I hope you all had a well
deserved, relaxing weekend.

I want to say, I'm so sorry for the lack of posts and my absence from your blogs, but it's been a super busy month where I officially started working again. I know I've said this before, but I'm gonna say it again - my hats off to all of you, who have to go to work, have a family to look after, and have blogs and other hobbies. Because it seems I just barely get things done. And, so everything has fallen by the wayside as usual...however, I have been working on a few illustrations and I thought I'd share them with you.

As for the weekend, my husband and I finally took a well deserved day off on Saturday and went to a lovely spa where we spent almost two hours in two types of saunas and whirlpools with hand-controlled jets and waterfalls. At first, I was a little skeptical because it's difficult for me to relax in these types of artificial and manufactured settings. Boy, was it a lovely surprise! I can't tell you how much we both needed it. It was an incredibly relaxing experience and I hope we can do it again.

what did you do this
past weekend?

The Players

The City

I'm not a professional.
I do this because I love it.
The same goes for writing and blogging.
So your opinion matters - let me know what you think.

  1. I like the graffiti effect of The City- and I like the use of just black and white.

  2. We tried a lovely new restaurant and I finally saw Eat Pray Love in japan! It was so relaxing...

Reese, I know how you feel about the not posting. I have a hard time with my old blog these days. I've got myself on a schedule for the new one. It's okay to take a break when we need it!

PS, after seeing all the pasta in the EPL movie, I'm so envious of you!

  3. I really like the first one! Spa.. and relaxing.... that sounds so good. A few years ago for our wedding anniversary we booked ourselves into a spa at a posh hotel and spent the day there (sauna, massage, workout - my husband, not me!), it was quite fabulous!

  6. Oh my goodness, your illustrations are gorgeous! It's not always easy to make b&w look un-bland - so I'm loving these! I totally hear you on the overscheduling, I also think it's totally okay to take breaks - we need it! Glad you got such a great break with your sweetie. :)

Gearing up for a weekend away myself, so just lots of work and, yes, overscheduling for now. But worth it! Have a wonderful week!

  8. welcome back Reese! i agree, blogging can be quite time consuming and it's easy to loose touch with reality once the blog bug bites.

  15. The beauty of RSS -- no need to feel guilty! And I really like Roman baths, the sequence of rooms, the the warm pools, the steam, the dry heat, and sometimes the cool dip right at the end.... The only thing I miss at the spa is that slightly social element, where you have a few other people around... you can be solitary and social at the same time... xo bb

  16. I totally feel you on the absence from the blog because of work! work is definitely getting in the way of my social and writing life. hmmpfff. I keep telling myself that it will all calm down once I am no longer a "first-year" teacher.
As for what I did....I went to Florida for some much-needed fun in the sun and female bonding time!
