St. Patrick's Day in Italy

hey everyone!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!

In honour of St. Patrick's Day on March 17th,
I have drawn a four leaf clover.

It is a symbol of good luck, especially if it's found by chance. It's an uncommon variety of the three leaf clover (a.k.a the Shamrock). Legend has it that each leaflet has significance: the first leaf represents hope, the second is for faith, the third is for love, and the fourth leaf represents luck. Another legend is that the three leaf clover, or Shamrock represents the Holy Trinity.

St. Patrick's Day is named after Saint Patrick, a patron saint of Ireland. It began as a Catholic holiday and became an official feast day in the early 1600s, and gradually became a secular celebration of Ireland's culture. It has been written in Irish folklore that he taught and spread God's word to the Irish people and used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit). He is considered to this day to be the principal champion of Irish Christianity.

Chicago River is dyed green for St. Patrick's Day

Although, we're not Irish, nor do we have any Irish blood in our family genealogy, we never miss an opportunity, or rather my husband doesn't miss an opportunity, to drink some Guinness. So, off to the pub we go tonight celebrating St. Patrick's Day after I finish work to our only local Irish pub and hangout - Auld Dublin.

Where will you be celebrating?

  8. Hey Elizabeth, yeah, I couldn't believe it either when I read that they dyed their river every year. But, hey - as long as it's environmentally friendly. Why not?! :-)

  11. Yes, Leila, I did change the background. Thanks for noticing. I get bored with my blog design on a regular basis, so the blog face is always changing. I think I've had about 4 or 5 different faces since I began this blog last summer.

I have been thinking about getting a professional design, but knowing myself, I would want to change it again and I just wouldn't be able to pay for it everytime I have one of my redesign moments.
